I held a Provost's Fellowship at the Tomás Rivera Policy Institute (TRPI), the nation's leading think-tank on Latina/o-related issues, for three years. During that time I worked on public policy research, carrying out my own research designs with quantitative methods. I lead-authored several reports and briefs on education and employment.
¿Qué Pasa?, my full report on English language learning (ELL) in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), garnered national attention. It was a resource in the Obama administration's first major federal civil rights investigation. It was also a major resource in the passage of California Senate Bill 753.
¿Qué Pasa? was featured on the Patt Morrison show, and received coverage from the Associated Press, Voice of America, Education Week, the Los Angeles Times and National Public Radio.
